April 1 & 2 - World Autism Day / Light It Up Blue

To commemorate the Fourth Annual United Nations World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) and Autism Awareness Month, Autism Speaks invites iconic buildings around the world to turn their lights blue on April 1 and 2, 2011.

You can participate by lighting up your home, business, school, house of worship, web site or anything you want in the color blue - or just wear blue for the day. Also see http://action.autismspeaks.org/pages/participate for ideas. Help us shine a bright spotlight on autism.

Autism Speaks

The Chicago NW Suburban Alumnae Association of Alpha Xi Delta is excited to bring Autism Speaks to the Chicago NW Suburban community. The worlds largest autism advocacy organization, Autism Speaks is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and to advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Our Sisters look forward to increasing autism awareness and working with Autism Speaks. With one in 110 children diagnosed with autism and no known cure, Alpha Xi Delta is committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by autism. We hope our fundraising and awareness efforts can help put one more piece of the autism puzzle in place.
